The visit & cost map

Questions before care.

Bring the questions you need answered. Leave with the medicine’s name, a clear reason for using it and a written cost.

Compare the care routes.

Online or in a room, start with the person making the care decision. Ask how they will check your health, choose a medicine and check how you are doing later.

For an online visit

In October 2026, Arizona does not require every remote prescription to start with an in-person visit.

The health professional must check your health in a way that meets your care needs. They must follow the rules for the exact medicine and have permission to prescribe it in Arizona. Ask whether that medicine needs an examination in person.

  • Which licence or Arizona registration allows you to treat me here?
  • How will you check where I am during the visit?
  • How do I ask more questions after the visit?
  • Who arranges a test or an examination in person if I need one?

For an in-person visit

Bring your medicine list and main concern. Ask for a plan you can explain in your own words.

  • Who checks my health, and who decides whether to order a medicine?
  • What is this medicine meant to treat in my case?
  • What other options could meet that need?
  • Which pharmacy supplies the medicine?
  • What happens after this visit?

Showing both care routes.

Some health professionals with a licence in another state can give online care to a patient in Arizona, as of October 2026. They must meet Arizona’s registration rules.

Ask for the complete bill.

Request a written quote for your exact medicine and care plan. Keep the medicine cost separate from charges for visits, membership and tests.

A reference point for medicine cost

In September 2026, medicine makers advertised prices mostly from about $149 to $499 per month for certain weight-loss and diabetes medicines. These prices were offered through the makers’ own services for people paying without insurance.

These were advertised offers, not a quote for your care. A ‘month’ could mean one box of medicine, one bottle of pills or 28 days of medicine, depending on the product.

For some offers, waiting too long after the last delivery to order a refill could raise the price. The price also depended on the medicine and the amount prescribed. Ask for your refill deadline in writing.

A September 2026 check looked at large companies offering weight-loss care visits online. Their monthly fees often left out the medicine cost.

Have each part written down before comparing quotes.

Leave with these answers.

  • What is this medicine called, and why are you suggesting it for me?
  • What problems could happen, and which changes mean I need help right away?
  • Who answers questions after this visit?
  • What is the follow-up plan, and what will it cost?

Keep the care checks beside these answers.
